Welcome to Sandhill Acres Miniature Horse Farm,

We started as a hobby farm with Norwegian Fjord draft horses on the East Coast in Massachusetts and decided to move back to our original home ground in Minnesota. We brought our Fjords with us and started a hobby farm here. After a terrible riding accident we rehomed our Fjords and searched for a way to keep our love of horses alive.

We discovered the world of miniature horses, and also discovered no one can have just one, and so began our adventure of owning and raising miniature horses. Terie’s love for the Appaloosa, which developed during her 30 years of riding, caring for and raising horses, has been one of the driving forces behind the development of our breeding herd. An opportunity to provide the Appaloosa intelligence, friendly disposition, and beautiful confirmation is our delight in breeding. We do not breed for many (2-4 foals a year) so we can spend time with each and every foal to get them started to attain all those wonderful attributes that can place them in the show ring, as well as perform as therapy animals if asked to.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us!
